The Alligator XPERT 5.2 3D Bandsaw is a specialist industrial bandsaw designed for the fast and precise separation of metal 3D printed parts from additive manufacturing build plates.
For manufacturers using metal additive manufacturing technologies such as SLM, DMLS and powder bed fusion, removing printed parts from the build plate is a critical stage of the production process. The XPERT 5.2 provides a fast, efficient and cost effective solution for separating printed components from the print board, reducing post processing time compared with milling or wire EDM.
The machine features a rigid two column construction which ensures excellent stability, high cutting precision and reliable performance when cutting high value materials used in metal 3D printing.

Saw kerf (cut width): approximately 2 mm
The narrow cutting width allows printed components to be removed very close to the build plate, minimising material loss and reducing additional machining requirements.
Automated Build Plate Clamping and Cutting
The machine is equipped with a special adjustable clamping system designed for additive manufacturing build plates.
The printing plate is clamped in a horizontal position and then hydraulically tipped into the vertical cutting position, allowing safe and easy handling of heavy build plates. The entire cutting cycle, including plate positioning, folding and cutting, can be performed automatically.
Precise clamping ensures accurate cut positioning with minimal machining allowance, helping manufacturers maximise material usage and reduce waste.
The distance between the cut and the base plate is automatically set, ensuring consistent cutting results and repeatability.
Large Build Plate Capacity
The Alligator XPERT 5.2 3D is designed for larger additive manufacturing platforms and production environments.

The continuously adjustable clamping jaw allows build plates with thickness: 10 – 60 mm
The clamping system can be adjusted across a wide working range up to 500 mm, providing flexibility for different printing systems.
Robust Industrial Bandsaw Construction
The machine sits on a rigid and compact base designed for industrial use, combining stability with efficient use of workshop space.
Despite its heavy duty construction, the machine maintains a compact footprint, with a base width of only 980 mm, allowing easy integration into 3D printing production cells or post processing areas.
The saw arm moves on precision linear guides and is driven by a powerful hydraulic cylinder, ensuring smooth and controlled cutting motion.
Heavy duty cast iron band wheels with industrial bearings, driven by a motor with worm gear transmission, provide long term reliability and cutting precision.
Precision Bandsaw Cutting Technology
The machine uses an industrial Bi-metal bandsaw blade (34 × 1.1 mm) designed for cutting difficult alloys used in additive manufacturing.
Cutting precision is ensured by three sided carbide blade guides positioned before and after the cut, maintaining optimal blade alignment.
Blade speed is adjustable via a frequency converter, allowing operators to optimise cutting parameters for different materials.
Blade speed range: 20 – 130 m/min
After the cut is completed, the machine automatically stops the blade and raises the saw arm to its preset position, enabling safe and repeatable operation.
Operator Friendly Design
The machine features simple operation via a central control panel with continuously adjustable feed rate.
The cutting area is illuminated by a powerful LED work light, ensuring excellent visibility during operation.
An optional transparent collection box with rubber pad is available, allowing cut parts to fall safely into a protected container while preventing the dispersion of metallic particles during dry cutting.
The system can also be customised to suit specific additive manufacturing processes or production requirements.

Extraction box
The extraction box helps to remove dust and sawdust from the cutting area. The extraction is divided into two branches. The connection hole for the powerful extraction has a diameter of 50 mm.
This accessory cannot be combined with the accessories: Saw blade cooling and Powered brush
Handling table
The table allows easy handling of heavy printing plates between the 3D printer and the saw. The electric drive ensures the adjustment of the table height.
